KEY PRIORITIES
MAKING A BEAUTIFUL PLACE TO LIVE EVEN BETTER
Tom Hutchinson has a vision for the district. Here are some of the issues and concerns that Tom plans to address and key policies that Tom will fight to uphold. As our society is ever-changing, so are political issues and the need to amend or eliminate governmental policies.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT & JOB CREATION
I plan to utilize my 25+ years of business leadership and management experience along with my entrepreneurial spirit to promote economic development and job creation throughout the region.
PUBLIC SAFETY | FIRST RESPONDERS
As a past volunteer firefighter I admire the sense of camaraderie and fellowship that exists throughout the fire and EMS units across the district. Our first responders are a fabric of the community. I will always support and fight for this truly unique and special group of citizens.
TAX REDUCTION
As a conservative Republican, I am in favor of keeping more money in the hands of our working citizens. I will fight against new taxes and fees. I will seek ways to reduce our taxes so that our senior citizens can retire and stay on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I want to challenge automatic tax increases such as the annual increase on gasoline.
PROTECT SMALL BUSINESS, FARMERS, AND WATERMEN
As a small business owner, I understand the challenges that all small business face across the State of Maryland. I will fight to reduce burdensome taxes, fees, and regulations that affect our hard working farmers, watermen, and small business owners.
PUBLIC SAFETY | LAW ENFORCEMENT
Crime and lawlessness across America is out of control. Unfortunately, we are no longer immune to violent crime in our district. I have the utmost respect for our law enforcement. I will support our police and sheriff's officers - everyday & unequivocally.
PARENTAL RIGHTS IN CURRICULUM AND EDUCATION
I will ensure that parents have a voice in what is taught in our schools and that local school boards have the power to make local decisions. I am strongly opposed to many of the new ideologies that are infiltrating schools across America.
DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION
I will always defend the United States and State of Maryland Constitutions and I will fight any efforts to infringe upon our Second Amendment.
RURAL BROADBAND
One of the many challenges we faced during the pandemic was the absence of broadband throughout the Eastern Shore. Our school children, remote workers, and local business suffered due to unreliable internet service. I will work with all of our service providers to ensure we have the technology and internet access to support our economic growth and educational .
PRESERVING THE SHORE WAY OF LIFE
Whether you are "from here" or a "come here", we are all blessed that we live in a unique and beautiful area of the world. I want to make sure the values, traditions, and heritage of the Eastern Shore remain for generations to come. It is my overarching goal as your delegate to Make a Beautiful Place to Live Even Better!
